I had the chance to grab dinner with photographer friends before a shoot. John and Carolyn were doing family portraits and I was doing a wedding. I took one image while we were there.

The girls were swimming so I went out and took one picture. Well, I took two actually... I didn't want to lay down on the wet pavement and the first one was out of focus. I guess I'm cheating because my parents couldn't check the focus on a screen but, hell, I didn't want to miss the picture because of my project. Mac's forehead looks weird... she was wearing the goggles and they marked her face so she looks like she is wearing a bald cap.

Arriving early at Sacred Heart Church for a wedding, I had just enough time to pull out my Fuji and snap one picture.

Steering Wheel

As I continue on this little experiment, I find it hard to stick to the original idea. I wanted to shoot in black and white the way my parents did... sparingly.. making every picture count. But I find myself drawn back to images that my parents never would have shot. Images I shoot because I like the form or function or maybe just because I know that one day it will be gone and I'll like that I have a precise image of this thing. Like the view of the steering wheel inside my car. No one cares about this but me but one day I'll be glad I shot it. What I wouldn't give for this same shot from inside my very first car. So, I guess this project is evolving...
